The subject that inspired me to look into paleo art, was an aspect that frequently comes up when looking at this art form, though it is an aspect that does not define it. Ferns. Due to their age, they appear quite frequently in depictions of prehistoric creatures.

To that end, there are a lot of varied techniques, as well observations of different types of fern applied by these artists throughout these depictions of prehistoric creatures. With varying levels of details and conditions I think a lot of the learning I've taken from this, is how the plant resting under it's own weight can look from various angles, as well as the appearance of the leaves that stem off, from slightly sideways angles.
